How we make money, plainly

thegardening.co is funded by affiliate commissions. When you buy something through one of our links, the retailer may pay us a small percentage. It never costs you more, and it never changes what we recommend.

Our rules

Advice comes first. Product recommendations are written after the care advice, to fit it — never the other way round. If a plant doesn't need something, we say so: every kit list includes a "save your money" tier, with no links in it, of products we think you should skip.

Disclosure is upfront. Every page with affiliate links carries a disclosure above the products, not buried in a footer — in line with the ASA/CAP Code requirements for UK readers and FTC guidance for US readers.

We only link to things we'd buy. Products are chosen for genuine quality and relevance to the plant on the page.

Where links go

We're currently setting up our retail partnerships, so "check price" buttons are marked "links soon". Once live, links will go to established UK garden retailers and, for commodity items, to Amazon. This page will list our partner programmes in full.
